Your new role
The post holder will provide leadership and direction for the Supplier Quality and NPI function and work closely with the wider Quality and Supply Chain teams in supporting supplied quality to our build lines, and assisting with the introduction and development of the supply base. A key focus area for this role will be new product introduction to ensure we build in supplier quality from the earliest stages of the process.

Hours of work:
7.30am - 3.30pm Mon - Fri. There is some flexibility with start and finish times.

What you'll need to succeed
Ideally we would like to see candidates with significant experience in Supplier Quality Assurance, including AS9100 and ISO9001 standards experience. You will have a Degree in an Engineering related discipline and/or relevant work- related experience. Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time as required. Experience working with customers, regulators and suppliers. Strong leader capable of working successfully in a matrix organisation, as part of a cross-functional team to drive impactful results. You will have experience in working with a global supply base, in particular in low-cost regions.

What you'll be doing;

• Act as Technical Lead for selected Business Development opportunities through pre-qualification, concept design, internal approval, proposal submission and handover to construction. Ensuring all relevant departments are involved in the bid team and lead the development for a robust solution and offering.
  
• Provide support to the senior project development engineers on large scale projects to ensure a coherent team effort and individual development.

• Provide and develop technical capability through feasibility studies and option assessment on industrial and building services energy saving measures.
  
• Develop energy generation / efficiency / distribution solutions in partnership with our clients to meet their needs for resilience, carbon and energy cost savings across a project life cycle.
  
• Build close relationships with trusted suppliers to develop technical solutions and prepare quotations and where necessary challenging scope, costs, timeline and safety track records.
  
• Prepare tender packages for outline project design for project cost development, working with the construction teams to develop programmes, resourcing, procurement strategies, risks identification and mitigation. Manage internal approval processes for governance and risk mitigation.

What we're looking for;

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Power Generation or similar engineering subject
  
• Experience of the energy industry in particular: building services, HVAC, BMS, steam raising plants, CHP, LTHW systems, Low carbon technology and heat networks
  
• AutoCAD experience for PIDs and schematics
  
• UK Driving licence
  
• Good understanding of thermal process, hydraulics, electrical distribution and controls to lead design reviews
  
• Able to articulate a good understanding of design concepts to lead the in-house team through the project development process.

Your new role

Working within our Abnormal Loads team in Darlington, you’ll provide helpdesk support to National Highways stakeholders in the operation and use of the ESDAL system. You’ll assist in supporting data maintenance and upgrade tasks for data held within the ESDAL system. You’ll also provide an interface between user groups and the ESDAL technical team.

Role Description:

Join a dynamic Civil Engineering team as a pivotal member, where your primary focus will be on designing, reviewing, and assessing civil engineering structures.

Your role involves the review, checking, and development of multi-disciplinary models and engineering drawings, primarily for underground construction projects, but also encompassing general civil engineering contributions across various sectors.

The successful candidate will be assigned direct mentorship from the Senior Engineering team to further develop your academic qualifications and past experiences, engaging in tasks such as:

• Utilising proprietary design software packages like AutoCAD Civil 3D and INFAWorks.
• Preparing Specifications, Bills of Quantities, and Contract Documents.
• Exploring design opportunities in areas such as HDD, pipejacking, deep foundations, and highway design.
• Crafting design drawings and models in 2D, 3D, and BIM formats.
• Undertaking site inspections.
• Compiling Tender documentation.
• Conducting thorough report writing.
• Coordinating and reviewing project-related correspondence, data, reports, and drawings.
• Fully developing schedules and cost estimates.

Candidate Specification:

We are seeking candidates who possess the following experience and qualifications:

• Level 7/8 degree in civil engineering.
• Exhibit strong analytical skills with a solid foundation in tunnels, deep excavation, piling, and reinforced concrete works.
• Geotechnical Design/knowledge is desirable
• Previous experience in general Civil Engineering design.
• Experience in the Rail sector is desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to integrate into an existing team and collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse disciplines.
• Proficiency in report writing and computer skills.
• Experience in data manipulation and analysis techniques, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
• Previous work experience in a design role is preferred.
